How many hours a week should an owner spend on marketing?

Two to four hours a week is enough for most owners once the work is delegated: one weekly numbers review, one approval pass on content and offers, and a short call with whoever runs the marketing. Owners spending far more than that are usually doing the work instead of directing it.

Keep three decisions on your desk: what you charge, which service lines you want more of, and what you are willing to spend to book a job. Everything else, including keyword targets, page builds, ad management and posting, belongs to a coordinator or an outside team reporting against those decisions.
